This 2-step set distributes the cutting load, with both taps cutting to the exact nominal finish size. The taps are distinguished by their short and medium-cut designs. The tap with the medium cutting length (approx. 3–5 threads) centers and cuts the first thread. The tap with the short cutting length (approx. 1–2 threads) is essential for finishing and tapping close to the bottom of blind holes.
