Machine taps are used when the screw thread is machine-threaded in drill presses, tapping arms, CNC machines and lathes/milling machines. The machine taps from our range comply with general worldwide standards, including DIN and ISO. DIN 371/6 is the most commonly used standard; DIN 352 is for short taps. There is also the ISO version. Both DIN and ISO machine taps have a metric shank diameter. The machine taps range comprises a value-for-money ECO model from International Tools or a top-quality specialised hardlube coated machine tap from Phantom. The latter machine tap reduces friction in tricky materials, thereby increasing the service life when used on these materials. T
he correct machine tap is chosen by correctly assessing its use.
If you create threading in different materials each time, make the UNI machine tap your first choice - it is guaranteed to make accurate screw threads on commonly used materials.
Advantages:
reliable – guaranteed prevision cutting on commonly used materials,
cost-saving – no large machine tap stocks required.
If you thread more holes, thread more quickly or on the same material for longer, still choose the UNI machine tap but with an additional coating for a longer service life as this will make it extremely durable in use.
If mass production threading is required or the material is tricky to thread - such as stainless steel or high-grade steel - the HP2 UNI hardlube machine tap has the solution. This machine tap lends itself to dry machining, without cleaning afterwards, and is better suited for specific durability requirements.
For materials such as construction steel, stainless steel and ALU, specialised machine taps are also available for maximum performance on said materials.
In order to be able to use machine taps for longer and to be able to lay your hands on them time and again, a machine tap set has been developed for the most common sizes. This thread cutting set also comprises associated drills for pre-drilling. The set consists of sizeds M3 to M12, so also includes the most popular M6, M8 and M10 machine taps.
