The base material, HSS-E powder metal (PM), guarantees extreme wear resistance and toughness. The steam-tempered finish prevents cold welding (cutting edge buildup) and improves the adhesion of coolant. A distinctive feature of DIN 376 is the through shank (reduced shank), ideal for reaching deeper holes. The shell cut (shape B) and 3.5–5-flute design ensure effective chip evacuation for through holes.
